News!

Cool news: I've been snowboarding tons this last week, I've gone to the hill everyday. It's been really sunny. :) I was watching a Norwegian snowboard competition yesterday called the Arctic Challenge. There were 10 riders in the final and one of them was from Regina. Despite Regina being about the worst place you could live in Canada outside of the rez, I was very happy to see a snowboarder from Saskatchewan, let alone Canada, competeing against some of the biggest names in professional snowboarding from around the world. His name is Mark McMorris, he is only 16 and he placed 5th. He landed a double cork 900 and a double rodeo 900, both quite stylish. Here's a little clip I found of him on the interweb:

I've applied to Concordia for next year, they have a really cool program called Electroaccoustics that I am very interested in. It is essentailly the study of the art of sound through electricity.

Shitty news: My friend Paul Boon gave me his external hard drive to bring to Norway. I noticed that it was making some noises, behaving oddly and occasionally freezing so I bought a new external harddrive off of eBay- 500GB for $100 dollars (good deal). I wanted to backup all my files on my new harddrive but Paul's old one has now stopped working! All my music, pictures, videos, documents GONE! GONE! GONE! So I´m very depressed. :(

Hamburgers and Pineapples

This post is brought to you in part by my friends Fraser Wuttunee and Jesse Hicks- god bless their souls for the inspiration.

Before I begin rambling about my adventures in scandihoova I must take an opportunity to praise hamburgers and pineapples, tasty things and amazing creatures in their own respective regards. At my folk high school many of the salads have pineapple in them. YUM! I'll talk about hamburgers in a bit as they are relevent to current events in my life...

I have been travelling with my sister in Sweden and Denmark over this holiday break. We stayed with my friend Isabella in Mora, Sweden for two days and stayed in hostels for the rest of the time. We went to cool electro club in Stockholm, Sweden with some cool french guys that were staying at our hostel. We had fun in Copenhagen, Denmark in the red light district and Freetown Christiania. Christiania is a really cool open anarchist-like community that lies within the city of Copenhagen.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freetown_Christiania) Christiania has it's own set of laws/rules that have come about through community concensus. All of the buildings have cool art and grafitti on them some art is quite old as Christiania has been around since the 70's. There are around 850 residents.

BURGERTIME! I ate a really great ground sirloin chuck with some potato wedges and delicious Danish tartar sauce in Copenhagen at a burger restaurant called Halifax. It had pickles, tomato, lettuce, ketchup, sauce of some sort and a nice 250g patty. This is the first real great burger I've had in Scandinavia so far- and at a reasonable price($20CAD- the same price as a Burger King whopper in northern Europe)! If you're ever in Copenhagen itchin for a 'burg, hit this place up! (http://tinyurl.com/ygzxzab)

Long post is looooooooooooooooong. I'm going to bed!

Jul Tid

Snow has fallen
the trees are lit
it's christmas time in Norway
Vanya has come to visit

Yesterday I snorted spaghetti up my nose and pulled it through my mouth! SWEET! My sister has come to visit me and is staying at my school for the week. We will be travelling through Sweden and Denmark next week.

I have been using Skype to talk to my family and a couple of friends in Canada. If you want to talk to me here in Norway I am sometimes on Skype at 8PM my time (12NOON Saskatoon time). You can download Skype at http://www.skype.com/ , it is free! You can add me to your contacts list by my username calitobandito.

My initial flight to Norway in August had a transfer in Iceland. In the airport in iceland the staff rode through the terminals on scooters. I didn't manage to take a picture, but a nice man named Joseph Anderson who was waiting for the same plane took some shots and emailed me this one:

Update!

It was my birthday on Friday (the 20th)! AWESOME! Things I have done in the past couple of weeks:
- Ate salsa, soy sauce, raw egg, brown cheese (brunost), raw potato, water, cinnamon, curry, sugar, chocolate pudding, etc. all mixed together in a cup.
- Drifting and ripping around an empty field in a shitty little Fiat during my automotive class.
- Finished making my longboard!
- Dressed up as a girl for trans-day.

Cool schtuff!

I got a memory card reader!

I have a memory card reader now so I can put my pictures/videos on this here blog! I helped my friend Andreas and his friend Ole Martin record some black metal tracks, one is an original and the other is a cover of Emperor's Inno a Satana. I saw Gorgoroth on Monday, it was alright but not as good as the first time I saw them. No people on crusifixes, no goatheads, no flames, and worst of all no Gaahl. Gaahl is the old vocalist from Gorgoroth who is the center of much contoversy around the group. There where so many changes to the bandmember lineup that only one of the members remained from the lineup that I saw last year at Wacken open air in Germany. They played my fave songs (destroyer and insipid satan) Å well- tonight I'm going to see Aqua! YEAH! WHOOP WOOP! A couple of weeks ago my class climbed up a mountain to get to snow at the peak. My friend Patrik borrowed some skis from the school. One of the bindings wouldn't stay on his foot so he skied with one ski. Here is a video I took of him doing a 180.
